Michelle moved to the city 10 years ago to get to do what she loves: to connect with different kinds of people by creating or collaborating stories told through music and theater.

November 2025

I’m honored to come back to the Metropolitan Opera to assistant direct Julie Taymor’s production of The Magic Flute: A Holiday Presentation for the 2nd time and to work on Anthony Minghella’s production of Madama Butterfly through Spring 2026.

October 2025

This Fall, I am so humbled to direct my first ever Madama Butterfly at Opera San Jose.

Runs November 16th to 3oth 2025.

June 2025

I’m excited to make my company debut at Aspen Music Festival and School this summer. Assistant directing on Renée Fleming’s directorial debut. Cosi Fan Tutte conducted by Patrick Summers. I’m also going to assist Katherine Carter on a semi-staged Boheme.

Cosi opens on July 21st, until July 26th and Boheme opens on August 19th, 2025.

April 2025

I’m glad to be coming back to Opera Theatre of St. Louis for the 3rd time with the company, to assistant direct for the world premiere of This House. Composed by Ricky Ian Gordon, libretto by Lynn Nottage and Ruby Aiyo Gerber.

Directed by James Robinson.

It is great to come back to the Metropolitan Opera this time as an assistant stage director for Julie Taymor’s Production of The Magic Flute: A Holiday Presentation and for Tosca with Sondra Radvanovsky, Bryn Terfel and Brian Jagde.

October 2024

I’m thrilled to announce that I will be making my mainstage directorial debut with Puccini’s La Boheme and extending my directing residency at Opera San Jose for the 2024-2025 Season.

I will assistant directing the rest of the season. The Magic Flute, Bluebeard’s Castle and Zorro.

I’m very excited to return for my 2nd summer at Opera Theatre of St. Louis to assistant direct a production of Julius Caesar by Handel,

Directed by Elkhanah Pulitzer.

August 2023

I’m ecstatic to make my company debut with Opera San Jose as its Resident Director for the entire 2023-2024 Season.

I will be assistant directing the 4 Mainstage Productions. Romeo and Juliet, The Barber of Seville, Rigoletto and Florencia En El Amazonas.

April 2023

I am happy to announce that I will be making my company debut assistant directing a new production of Susannah by Carlisle Floyd at Opera Theatre of St. Louis.

August 2022

2022 marks the start of my professional career as an Opera stage director. I’m pleased to start my journey with the Metropolitan Opera by being the Bank of America Stage Director Fellow for the 2022-2023 Season.

I will be working on Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Tosca, The world premiere of The Hours, L’elisir d’amore, Norma and Champion.
